POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
At The Farmers Bank of Appomattox the basis of each customer
relationship, many of which span generations, is trust.
Customers have chosen to do business with us and we are
obligated to honor that relationship with great care, beginning
with the information the customer has chosen to share with us.
We believe that customer privacy should not be compromised.
At the same time we want to offer customers the array of
financial products and services they need to accomplish their
financial goals. However rapidly we may respond to
changes in technology and data processing, we at Farmers Bank
also take pride in our adherence to the more old-fashioned
virtue of customer confidentiality. We are committed to protect
that privacy and this policy discloses our information use and
practices in detail. Recognition of a Customers’
Expectation of Privacy The Bank believes that the
confidentiality and protection of customer information is one of
our fundamental responsibilities. While information
is critical to providing quality service, we recognize that one
of our most important assets is our customers’ trust.
Thus, the safekeeping of customer information is a priority for
the Farmers Bank. We will maintain standards to ensure
that customer information is private and secure at all times.
Information We Collect About Customers We collect
non-public personal information about customers from the
following sources:
- Information we receive from customers on applications or
other forms
- Information about customer transactions with us
- Information we receive from a consumer-reporting agency
- Other Public sources such as federal, state and local
records.
No Disclosures Outside of Exception We do not
disclose any non-public personal information about our customers
or former customers to anyone, except as permitted by law.
We are permitted under law to share information about our
experiences or transactions with the customer and our
affiliates. In addition, we may disclose the following
information to companies that provide products and services
necessary to effect, administer or enforce a transaction that a
customer requests or authorizes, such as:
- Information we receive from customers on an application
such as name, address, social security number, assets and
income
- Information about customer transactions with us, such as
account balance or payment history
- Information we receive from a consumer credit reporting
agency, such as creditworthiness
Confidentiality and Security We restrict access to
non-public personal information about customers only to those
employees who need to know the information in order to provide
products or services. We maintain physical, electronic,
and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to
guard non-public information. These standards exist for
both our physical facilities and our online services. We
educate our employees about the importance of confidentiality
and our privacy policy. Due to the importance of these
issues, all Farmers Bank employees are responsible for
maintaining the confidentiality of customer information and
employees who violate these Privacy Principles will be subject
to disciplinary measures. Maintaining Customer Privacy
in Business Relationship with Third Parties When the
Bank conducts business with third parties, it requires it
vendors and suppliers to maintain similar standards of conduct
regarding the privacy of personally identifiable customer
information provided to them. Providing Privacy
Information to Customer and Responding to Inquiries
The Bank
recognizes and respects the privacy expectations of our
customers. We want our customers to understand our
commitment to privacy in our use of customer information.
As a result of our commitment, we have developed these Privacy
Principles which are made readily available to our customers.
